The City of Monash acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land, the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Bunurong People, and recognise their continuing connection to the land and waterways. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging and extend this to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.
MAPh cultivates a community that is actively engaged with Australian photography and its stories, and empowers and celebrates its artists.

Contemporary Australian architecture
MAPh is situated on a parkland affording spectacular views of Melbourne's south-east.
The original part of the building was designed by internationally renowned architect Harry Seidler. It remains the only formal art gallery space designed by Seidler. With subsequent additions to the building by Cox Sanderson Ness (2000), MAPh is a fine example of contemporary Australian architecture.
Situated in landscaped grounds with stunning views of the Dandenong Ranges, MAPh is located on a landmark site once occupied by an early homestead. A sculpture park enables visitors to enjoy their art experience both inside and outside the gallery.
MAPh is the City of Monash's public art gallery. MAPh's governing board, the Committee of Management, oversees the gallery's operations.
