Lewis Morley (1925–2013) was born in Hong Kong and moved to England in 1945 where he studied at Twickenham Art School between 1949 and 1952. His photographs were first published in 1957 in Photography Magazine and Lewis Morley Studios was founded in 1961. Morley lived through the social and artistic change that swept through London during the 1960s and became well known for his studio portraits of key people from that time. He also made significant contributions to fashion and documentary photography. Morley moved to Australia in 1971 where he photographed Australia’s own rich and famous, embracing colour photography for the first time.
