Simon Terrill was born in Melbourne in 1969 and currently lives and works in London, UK. Since completing a Master of Fine Art at the Victorian College of the Arts (2005), Terrill has undertaken graduate studies at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College in London. Terrill has received many important awards and residencies, including the Anne & Gordon Samstag International Visual Arts Scholarship (2008), an Australia Council Skills and Development grant (2009), and the Bow Cross Residency, London (2010). Terrill works are held in public and private collections in Australia, including National Gallery of Victoria, National Gallery of Australia, and Samstag Museum of Art, Adelaide. Terrill has staged many solo exhibitions (including Samstag Museum of Art, 2013) and his work has been included in a number of important group exhibitions, including The Piranesi effect, Ian Potter Museum of Art, Melbourne (2014) and Negotiating this world: contemporary Australian art, National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne (2012).
