Christian Thompson (1978– ) is a Bidjara man of the Kunja Nation from south-west Queensland; he is also of English, Irish and Sephardic Jewish heritage. His multidisciplinary practice uses photography, video, sculpture, performance and sound to examine the inconsistencies and misrepresentations of Aboriginality by the dominant culture. Thompson holds a Doctorate of Philosophy (Fine Art), Trinity College, University of Oxford, United Kingdom, a Master of Theatre, Amsterdam School of Arts, Das Arts, The Netherlands, a Master of Fine Art (Sculpture) RMIT University and Honours (Sculpture) RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia as well as a Bachelor of Fine Art from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia. His works have been widely exhibited and collected both nationally and internationally.
