Darren Sylvester (1974– ) is a multi-disciplinary artist who works with photography, sculpture, video, music and performance. Sylvester graduated from Charles Sturt University in 1996, with a degree in photography and graphic design, before relocating to Melbourne and establishing himself as an exhibiting artist. His photographs are carefully staged tableaus which aim to explore the human condition through the visual vocabulary of popular culture, fashion photography and commercial design. In this regard, his work participates in a tradition of pop art that uses consumer culture as a metaphor for mortality.
