Joachim Froese

Joachim Froese (b. Canada 1961; a. Australia 1991) is a contemporary photographer who lives and works in both Brisbane and Berlin. He was born in Canada, grew up in Germany and migrated to Australia in 1991. Since arriving in Australia Froese has studied visual art in Tasmania, Queensland and Melbourne. He now has an established art practice and has exhibited his work widely in Australia and overseas since 1992. Froese’s photographs are inspired by art history as well as his personal story of migration. Froese has taught photography as a casual lecturer at universities in Australia and Germany since 2001.
