Jacky Redgate (1955– ) is a Sydney-based artist and educator. Born in London, Redgate came to Australia in 1967. She graduated from the South Australian School of Art in 1980 before completing postgraduate studies at Sydney College of the Arts in the 1980s and 1990s. In 2013 Redgate attained a Doctorate of Creative Arts from the University of Wollongong. Exhibiting widely since the late 1970s, Redgate has worked with sculpture and photography. She is now particularly well-known for her large-scale studio photographs that incorporate still life and abstraction. Consistently influenced by feminism, minimalism, and conceptual art, Redgate’s works reference the conventions of product photography and the legacy of twentieth-century Modernism.
