Shayne Higson (b. 1960 Australia) studied photography at East Sydney Technical College (1978–80) and Sydney College of Arts (1980–83). She has been exhibiting her work on a regular basis since the early 1980s. Her work is primarily photographic, although she often augments her images using hand-drawn elements or digital manipulation. She has also manufactured scenes specifically for photo-shoots. Her practice frequently engages with topical or historical issues as a form of social commentary and has always responded to her geographic context.
