James Tylor (1986– ) is an Australian multi-disciplinary artist based in Canberra. He completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Photography) at the South Australian school of Art in Adelaide in 2011, and in 2012 he completed honours in Fine Arts (Photography) at the Tasmanian School of Art in Hobart. He returned to Adelaide in 2013 and completed a Masters in Visual Art (Photography). Tylor’s works explore the impact of 19th-century Australian history, drawing on his multicultural heritage, which comprises Kaurna Aboriginal, Māori and European-Australian ancestry. He has exhibited widely in Australia and overseas and is represented in the collections of major Australian institutions, as well as a selection of high profile international collections.
