Melbourne-born Stanley William Eutrope (1891–1983) became interested in photography in about 1914 at the height of the Pictorialism movement. He began exhibiting in 1917, and the same year was invited to become a member of the Victorian Pictorial Workers Society. Eutrope moved to Sydney on business in 1920 before taking a position as manager of the Brisbane branch of Harrington’s, a photographic supply company. He returned to Sydney in 1967 after the death of his wife. Eutrope was known for his pictorialist style of landscape photography as well as his fine bromoil printing technqiues.
