Ray Cook (1962– ) is a photographic artist and teacher who is now based in Melbourne after living and working in Brisbane for many years. He graduated from Queensland College of Art, Griffith University with a Master of Visual Art in 2003 and went on to complete his PhD in 2014. Since 1988 he has been producing and exhibiting works that address issues relating to queer culture. In 2007, a major monograph on his practice was published by Queensland Centre for Photography, Diary of a fortunate man: Ray Cook photographs, and in the same year Cook won the William and Winifred Bowness Photography Prize with his work, ‘For God’s sake, somebody throw a pie’ (2006).
