Destiny Deacon (1957–) is of Erub/Mer (Torres Strait) and Kuku (Far North Queensland) peoples. She grew up in an Aboriginal community in inner-city Melbourne, and has been involved with Aboriginal activism and conscience-raising throughout her life. She completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne in 1979 and a Diploma of Education at Latrobe University in 1981 before embarking on an artistic career in 1990. Her practice encompasses photography, video, installation and performance and her works aim to raise awareness of issues relating to Indigenous Australians, often through the use of humour and irony.
