SUPPER TALK with Peta Clancy
Peta Clancy will discuss her most recent project Undercurrent as well as provide an outline of her past projects and practice. Clancy's project Undercurrent takes the Victorian Aboriginal massacre map of Victoria as a starting point and is currently being developed during a residency with the Koorie Heritage Trust. She was awarded the 2018 Fostering Koorie Art and Culture award to undertake the residency.
Peta Clancy is a visual artist based in Melbourne, Australia, who works with photography, bio-art, video and installation. She investigates the intersection of art and biological processes, and has undertaken an in-depth exploration of the skin as a porous membrane. Clancy disrupts the seamless uniformity of screen-based photography through her unique approach.
Peta Clancy's work is held in the Monash Gallery of Art Collection, and she has been a finalist in the Bowness Photography Prize. Peta Clancy is a descendent of the Bangerang nation from the Murray Goulburn area, South Eastern Australia. She is a lecturer at MADA, The Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture at Monash University. In 2017, she was commissioned to create Fissures in Time for the Australian Centre for photography’s touring exhibition Under the Sun: Reimagining Max Dupain’s 'Sunbaker' as well as Aurelian for Locale 2017 - the Yarra City Council's Exhibition Program.
