Our story. with a Q&A between MGA Director Anouska Phizacklea, curator of LEGACY, and MGA Education and Public Programs Coordinator Stephanie Richter. The session will focus questions on the role of the Direcor/curator when developing an exhibition and key elements of the exhibition design.

This professional development event is presented free-of-charge for teachers, lecturers, tertiary curatorial students and senior secondary students of visual arts. Refreshments provided.

About the exhibition:

Due to popular demand! LEGACY. Your collection. Our story. will be extended and continue for the duration of Term 3. The exhibition is on now, and will close on 19 September 2018.

This is a fantastic opportunity to discover the gems of the MGA Collection from Anne Zahalka's 'The bathers' to Bill Henson's 'Paris Opera Project'. Artists include those featured in the above slideshow: David Moore, Anne Zahalka, Del Kathryn Barton, Polixeni Papapetrou, Carol Jerrems, Bill Henson and so many more!

With over 120 works on the wall, and two pop-up exhibitions between now and the end of September, LEGACY provides the perfect opportunity for classes to explore the role of a public gallery, the decisions a curator makes when considering how to display such a diverse selection of works, how the interpretation of a historical work may change in a contemporary context, and how a collection of artwork, such as MGA's collection of Australian photography, can tell the story of a nation.
