Darron Davies is a photographer based in Castlemaine. The Rodders Photo Project is an exploration of Castlemaine’s unique rodding culture, captured in a quiet classical style - fusing the arts and rodding. This has extended to other-worldly photographs of speed racing at the remote salt lake called Lake Gairdner in South Australia. In this talk Darron will talk about his photography and its unexpected journey.
Darron Davies has exhibited widely in recent years working between digital and film cameras, landscape work as well as interior and studio based photography. The Rodders Project has been exhibited twice in Castlemaine at the 2015 and 2017 Castlemaine State Festivals. The Rodders fuses a connection between Castlemaine's fine art and rodding communities. This project is a celebration of the art of art, and art of the car! In the photographic project "The Rodders", Darron has captured portraits of local Rodders in Castlemaine using a classical style.
Darron will talk about how the project evolved, and how he has been drawing upon inspiration from Renaissance painting and mythology. Darron's exhibition of the salt lake images will be displayed at Mt Rokko International Photo Festival in Kobe, Japan, a week prior to the talk.
