Take a deep dive into ZAHALKAWORLD: an artist's archive guided by the artist
Anne Zahalka is one of Australia’s most highly regarded photo-media artists who has exhibited extensively in Australia and overseas for close to 40 years. Her practice has centred around deconstructing familiar scenes and re-presenting them to allow for alternative narratives that reflect, amongst other things, on cultural diversity within Australian society, national identity and the ecological impact of the global climate crisis.
ZAHALKAWORLD: an artist's archive surveys key bodies of work alongside selected material from Zahalka's archive supporting the works on display. The exhibition also includes a re-creation of the artist's studio.
Join us in this special professional learning event to hear from the artist about
- the ideas and themes that underpin key works and bodies of work including The Landscape Re-presented and The Landscape Revisited, Wild Life, Resemblance, Bondi: Playground of the Pacific, Leisureland and The Fate of Things
- key influences and events that have shaped her work
- her techniques and creative processes, with a guided tour of her studio
- highlights and key moments from her personal archive
Program concludes with a MAPh educator-led discussion about opportunities and ideas for the classroom.
This is a not to be missed opportunity to gain rich first-hand insight into the artist's practice.
Refreshments provided.
