Join artist Anne Zahalka for a masterclass in studio photography to learn how to get the most from models, props, lighting and backdrops.

In this practical workshop Anne will share her working methods, ideas and processes as she guides you through a photoshoot in which you'll create your own narrative in response to the backdropMullet Creek, Illawarra, 1853 by Conrad Martens.

Learning objectives:

Using backdrops, props and costume
Effective composition and storytelling
Working with analogue cameras and processes
Camera techniques and tips

BYO costumes and props (some will be provided)

BYO camera and lunch (MAPh café will be open)

About Anne Zahalka...

Anne Zahalka is one of Australia’s most highly regarded photo-media artists having exhibited extensively in Australia and overseas for over thirty years.

She has held over 40 solo exhibitions and her work is included in all major museums in Australia. Zahalka’s work has often explored cultural and gendered stereotyping, challenging these with a humorous and critical voice. She deconstructs familiar images and re-presents them to allow other figures and stories to be represented that reflect on diversity and difference.

More recently her concerns have shifted to the environment and the ecological disaster that has been unfolding globally and in her country.
