Scotty So is a Hong Kong, born Melbourne-based artist who works across media, using painting, photography, sculptures, site-responsive installation, videos, and drag performance. Often humorous in nature, his work draws from cultural traditions, historical and contemporary fashion and ideas around identity.
Will and Garrett Huxley (Aus/Gumbaynggirr/Yorta Yorta) are Melbourne-based collaborative performance and visual artists who work together as The Huxleys. The Huxleys are a dynamic duo of cataclysmic proportion who present camp commentary and spectacle across the visual art, performance and entertainment sectors.
Ayman Kaake was born in Tripoli, Lebanon and moved to Australia in 2011. He purchased his first camera in 2015 and since then, has produced images that explore the complexities of starting a new life in another country. His inner landscapes present as staged self-portraits, that tenderly delve into feelings of uncertainty and isolation, creating otherworldly images.
MAPh Director Anouska Phizacklea will join The Huxleys, So and Kaake in conversation to delve into the performative elements of their photographic practice and dive deep into to the complex and challenging subject matter underlying their art making. This event coincides with the Melbourne Queer Film Festival (9-19 Nov).
