Sydney photographer Jacky Redgate has won the 2011 William and Winifred Bowness Photography Prize for her work "Light throw (mirrors) #4" (2011).
Julian Burnside AO QC announced the prize at Monash Gallery of Art. A prominent supporter of artists' rights and a patron of numerous arts organizations Mr Burnside has a passionate interest in photography and is custodian of the Wolfgang Sievers estate.
Mr Burnside presented Adobe Honourable Mentions to Elaine Campaner, Sean Fennessy and Alex Wisser. These photographers received software packages from Adobe.
The 37 finalist's works were selected from approximately 2 000 photographs submitted by 432 entrants.

Established in 2006 to promote excellence in photography, the annual non-acquisitive William and Winifred Bowness Photography Prize is an initiative of the MGA Foundation. Among Australia's most important art prizes, the Bowness Photography Prize is the country's most coveted photography prize.
