FINAL DAYS! COLD EELS AND DISTANT THOUGHTS is an exhibition of photographs by Aboriginal male photographers of Aboriginal men.
Curated by well-known indigenous writer, curator and artist Djon Mundine OAM, COLD EELS AND DISTANT THOUGHTS explores many of the stereotypes associated with Aboriginal masculinity from a range of perspectives, including documentary and conceptual practice.
The exhibition responds to recent negative depictions of Aboriginal men politics and the media. According to Djon Mundine, the central intention of the exhibition is to see Aboriginal men as just normal males with varying attributes, attitudes, fears, and hopes and dreams for a better future.
