The Museum of Australian Photography Foundation (MAPh Foundation) was established in 2005 with the aim to support the institution’s financial sustainability. Since then, MAPh Foundation has assisted the museum in raising awareness and funds to expand its nationally significant photography collection and yearly exhibition programming. This is achieved through the support of the museum’s philanthropic and fundraising program and annual art prize.
Your generous support of the MAPh Foundation enables us to continue to foster Australian photography and celebrate the visual stories that reflect the world around us.
Megan Peart, Chair MAPh Foundation
MAPh Foundation plays a key role in the museum’s philanthropic and fundraising activities. Through the stewardship of both new and existing donors, the Foundation helps sustain and grow MAPh’s community of supporters. Donor programs like The Luminaries and events like Behind the Lens are unique ways for people to get involved and stay connected to the museum. In addition, MAPh Foundation manage The William and Winifred Bowness Photography Prize. Established in 2006 to promote excellence in photography, Bowness Prize and it’s exhibition provide an opportunity to view and to engage with some of the best contemporary Australian photography each year. This prize has become one of the most important annual surveys of photography in Australia and continues to provide one of the largest winning cash pools for any art prize in the country.
