Artist statement:
This series encapsulates what it means to be in a hospital battling with cancer. The imagery depicts how family and medical professionals work to support patients and give them a sense of hope. My focus was portraiture and this artwork explored environmental portraiture. This was a very personal and intimate journey with my father as my subject matter. The series of photographs is likely to evoke compassion from the viewer as the hospital environment and body language of my father strongly communicates the harsh reality of a person nearing the end of their human existence.
