Artist statement:
This work is a representation of my own exploration of New Topographics within a contemporary Australian context; a theme inspired directly by an American exhibition from 1975. “New Topographics: Photographs of a Man Altered Landscape” provided the basis of subject matter, stylistic approach and aesthetic qualities which fostered my own interpretation. The ideas I am attempting to communicate through my work revolve around the development of landscapes and man’s inhabitation. This body of work is comprised of saturated images to show a modern take. My choice of subject matter was done with specific consideration of the prosaic in order to give beauty to “everyday scenes not usually given a second glance.” (- San Francisco Museum of Modern Art)
