Artist statement:
Millions of dollars worth of metal sits shakily in the dark of the garage. It appears frail, its rusted bolts exposed by the sharp winter rays of the sun that burst in through the garage door. Frail, it may seem. Old, it is indeed. Yet it's captivating blue colour sits stationary for only a few hours. For it awaits its journey out on to the track. A track it was built to drive on almost a century ago. For now though, all we can do is admire its brilliance as it rests its weary joints in the shadows of the garages.
This photo GT, was unlike the ones I had taken within the garages in my previous visit. I looked to try to capture a brighter depiction, whilst retaining the idea of the 'Garage Series.' To do so, I used the white outsides of the garages to almost frame the cars. Thus using a completely different shade, but retaining the heavy contrast, and use of chiaroscuro to emphasise the car's colour, lines and angles to create striking graphic compositions.
