Artist statement: I attempted to communicate this idea by photographing my brother, my father and grandfather against a simple white background. I wanted each of the figures to be interacting with each other so I decided to weave two images together showing them looking at each other. Weaving the photographs, create a highly imaginative interpretation of the subject matter. The ageing of the figures is seen through the physical changes of the human form from youth until old age. By weaving two contrasting photographs I attempted to produce movement. In producing these works I also set out to produce a minimalistic aesthetic. I have achieved this by utilising a soft limited colour pallet and the subtle presence of shape (in the heads), line (in the horizontal and vertical lines of the weaves), tone (in their faces) and texture (hair, skin and clothes). Alby is considered the foremost weave. He epitomises time and significance through his strong facial expressions and charming eye contact.
