Artist statement: I use photography to document the world in a way I find pretty. However, for me, photography is not made to be pretty through its properties of accurate worldly representation but rather by the beauty of how individuals see the world. My practice engages within the limitations of a pure analogue process, primarily challenging the instinctual ‘see to believe’ relationship between the viewer and the photograph. Rather than clearly portray an image, I use my work to challenge the audience, making us all question how the function of photographs fits into the way that we see and interact with the world. After all, truth is to the holder, the perspective, but should all perspectives be taken as fixed truth?
