There are now 5.25 trillion macro and micro pieces of plastic in our oceans. The Proust quote, ‘Perhaps the only real paradise is a lost paradise’, serves as a fitting reflection on this work that employs the tintype process to comment on the rapid proliferation of plastic in our modern world. The work employs the slow and meticulous tintype process to depict the beauty of natural environments to offset what has been devastated by the pollution from the rapid growth of waste from one-use plastic.
With barely five percent being recycled, the proliferation of plastic’s damage to our environment grows daily.
