Artist statement: For years I’ve invited people into my home studio to sit for Vantages. A dual large-format camera simultaneously recording two views of the sitter from different perspectives.

I like the idea of the body as a record. We are our face as much as we are our limbs and torso. There’s a strength and power present in being photographed just as you are.

When the film is exposed, the camera stands solitary as a witness, and I share the space with the sitter, looking at them with my own eyes instead of through a viewfinder, capturing a moment in time stretched out.
