In the midst of the bustling urban rhythm, where time races by and faces blur into anonymity, "Station Serenity" captures a moment of profound stillness. This monochrome composition portrays a solitary figure on a train platform, his silhouette poised in contemplation before an illuminated information screen. The absence of his facial features invites viewers to project their own emotions onto the scene, fostering a connection between observer and subject. The stark contrast of light and shadow emphasises the quiet intensity of this fleeting instant—a pause amidst the ceaseless motion of modern life. The man's stance exudes a sense of solitude, his presence in harmony with the surrounding architecture. The monochromatic palette strips away distractions, allowing the viewer to focus on the interplay of form and emotion. "Station Serenity" encourages introspection and invites us to reflect on our own journeys—both physical and metaphorical. As the man stands at the crossroads of departures and arrivals, his tranquil demeanour beckons us to find our own moments of serenity amid the cacophony of existence. Through this photograph, I aim to evoke a shared sense of stillness and connection, inviting the audience to pause and find solace within the urban tapestry. Also known as Giclee prints or bubble-jet prints, pigment ink-jet prints are generated by computer printers from digital or scanned files using dye-based or pigment-based inks. A series of nozzles spray tiny droplets of ink onto the paper surface in a precise pattern that corresponds to the digital image file. In dye-based prints the ink soaks into the paper, whereas in pigment-based prints the ink rests and dries on top of the paper surface.
Whilst the term is broad, pigment ink-jet prints have come to be associated with prints produced on fine art papers. They are the most versatile and archival method of printing available to photographers today. A wide variety of material on which an image can be printed with such inks are available, including various textures and finishes such as matte photo paper, watercolour paper, cotton canvas or pre-coated canvas.
