Patrick Pound approaches photography in a conceptual and playful way. Over the last 30 years, he has amassed a collection of more than 70,000 vernacular photographs and numerous objects that he sources from around the world. Pound buys his photographs from eBay and uses his own logic to categorise his found images according to their specific characteristics. He then draws on his collection for the creation of his works, making connections between otherwise unrelated images. Creating arrangements and installations that play with form, scale and subject matter, Pound juxtaposes like with like while also forming new, unexpected and often quite humorous relationships. Investigating new ways of seeing, Pound explores the art of collecting, as well as our never-ending attempt to make sense of the world.
