Artist statement: Anthos is an abstract representation of growing up and trying to find the self. The series sets out to be followed like a story, where a poem takes place alongside the imagery. The work takes the audience on a journey, inviting questions about identity and ongoing change.
An important message in this story is that humans should not fear uncertainty or change, nor should they limit themselves within a metaphorical box. The only thing the self should do is strive for eudaimonia – good spirit.
The imagery represents physical as well as mental growth, focusing on life events such as birth, bringing family together, falling in love, experiencing loss/grief and having free will. These concepts shape our inner workings as individuals.
