Artist statement: My practice is primarily focused on found objects and collection. This is supported by methods of photography, mark making and sound. I collect images / objects and save them until I find a way in which they can be utilised. Often these are objects that are disregarded as detritus and overlooked, blending into the everyday landscape.
My practice is heavily influenced by theories of Vibrant Matter, viewing objects as autonomous beings with the power to affect the world. I attempt to deconstruct the hierarchy of worth, this being based in function and an object’s ability to enhance human existence. I hold a curiosity for moments of chance and coincidence. The relationships within my work and the space in which it exists are reoccurring considerations throughout my practice.
