Destiny Deacon and I have been friends since the mid-1970s. We were both passionate Indigenous Rights Movement activists.
In November 2023 I visited Deacon at her home in Brunswick, Victoria, to take her portrait. It was a tender collaborative photoshoot, and it was the last time I had the pleasure of Destiny Deacon’s company.
Deacon was a subtle and witty political activist, a courageous and innovative artist and a dear friend. May she always be remembered.
