My practice examines perceptual awareness by addressing sites and architecture as subjects as well as objects. In responding to sites as subjects – to their scale, topography, light, spatial orientation and materiality – I dissolve parameters between art-objects and their contexts, changing the way immediate space is perceived.
In ‘SiteSurfaceComposition’ the lens as frame-finder formulates three distinct surface planes, tones and patterns within this simple, abstract geometric site-photograph. Black and white are used to emphasise graphic, tonal and material elements. The term ‘site-photograph’ refers to a photograph taken ‘of’ and ‘for’ a particular space. The photograph’s optimal exhibition is in its place of origin, in this instance MAPh.
