Artist statement: Absent presence reinterprets the aesthetics of film noir and the femme fatale model through a modern lens. Influenced by Cindy Sherman and Alex Prager, the digital photographs explore female identity, adolescence, and gender roles. Set in a friend's grandmother’s bedroom, with its milky walls, embroidered bedsheets, and antique furnishings, the work juxtaposes superficial glamour with deeper themes. The setting evokes unease and loneliness, while the varied lighting shifts the mood, inviting introspection. This tension between the familiar and the disquieting, encourages viewers to form their own narratives, exploring the interplay of identity and emotion.
