Artist statement:
There are limits to our sight, there is no one-dimensional way of encapsulating who we are. My purpose is to challenge peoples perceptions, the labels, generalisations, adjectives and judgments that are used to define people. Rather than just seeking to capture the individuals physical appearance, I seek to represent their character, disposition, and inner psyche. The unseen, the hidden, the invisible – these are all integral aspects of my concept, which lies well beyond verbal powers of communication. The surreal physical backdrop mirrors the intangible concept of identity.
